Don’t let Sarasota’s facade as a sleepy ocean town fool you. Beneath the relaxed, rustic shell you’ll find a city full of fascinating history with a rich musical, theatrical, and artistic culture. It’s also home to some of the most scenic beaches and locales in all of Florida, making it a top vacation destination for RV camping. Today we’ve created a list of four great family friendly RV campgrounds in Sarasota and weighed in on the advantages of each.

Ramblers Rest RV Campground

The sheer variety of activities that Ramblers Rest offers is mind-boggling. Want to learn woodcarving? No problem. Swing Dancing? They’ve got you covered. Computer classes? Why not! With a ton of activities to choose from, you’re sure to find something to keep your family entertained. The site also has easy access to the Myakka River, which runs along the park, offering some gorgeous kayaking for the more adventurous. There are also some great new water play areas for the kids, helping them to keep cool in the Florida sun.

Winter Quarters Manatee RV

This resort is just north of Sarasota in Bradenton, offering a fantastic location to provide your family with easy access to a variety of great locales. There’s the relaxed atmosphere of Sarasota to the south or the family friendly attractions of Tampa including theme park Busch Gardens to the north. A superb view of the nearby river from the pool gives the resort quite the relaxing atmosphere, and Bradenton itself provides a variety of shopping and dining opportunities, as well.

Royal Coachman RV Resort

This resort is hands down one of the most gorgeous in all of Florida. Complete with winding, scenic hiking and biking trails throughout the property, Royal Coachman RV Resort also holds some rather unique offerings, as well. There’s mini golf for the kids, a business area for mom and dad to keep up with work, and classes on glass staining, as well. Best of all, they’ve got a top-notch fitness area and library, providing activities for even the rainiest of Florida days.

Turtle Beach Campground

If you’ve wanted to experience waking up with the Florida beach outside your window each morning, this is the best site for you. Turtle Beach Campground is so named due to the nesting sites it provides for sea turtles, who enjoy the sandy white beaches just as much as visitors do. While it offers up many of the amenities other parks do, the real draw is that the beach is only a few hundred feet away. The park itself is at the very tip of Siesta Key, home of the “World’s Finest, Whitest Sand”.

Whichever park you choose, you’re guaranteed to have a fantastic time with your family. The laid back atmosphere of Sarasota is the perfect fit for the vacation mindset and the variety of activities the surrounding areas provide will be sure to keep you busy. So pack your bags, load the RV, and get ready to enjoy some of the best that Florida has to offer!
