Happy spring to all of our campers! The season is just getting started, and to celebrate, we have chosen four different campgrounds that you’ll enjoy if you’re looking for something on the Florida Gulf Coast. This time of year every camper is wanting to get out of their house and go camping, and we’ve got the perfect places to go!
Myakka River State Park
13208 State Road 72 Sarasota, FL | (800) 326-3521
Designated as a Florida Wild and Scenic River, the Myakka River State Park is the perfect place to camp for families that love wildlife. By renting a canoe or a bike, you can have a blast adventuring through the trails and down the river by yourselves. Another option for an adventure like this is to take a walk along the canopy walkway, which gives you a perfect view of the beautiful trees.
If you’re looking for a more structured fun activity, there are Scenic lake tours offered daily on the world’s two largest airboats, and tram tours that will take you through the backcountry trails. In other words, you’ll never be bored at this gorgeous state park!
Turtle Beach Campground
8862 Midnight Pass Road, Sarasota FL | (941) 349-3839
As one of only a few campgrounds with actual beach access, you’ll fall in the love with Turtle Beach Campground. With full hookups and electricity for RVs, you can park closer to the beach than you imagined. Being able to walk or take a free trolley ride straight to the sand is a dream come true for campers everywhere, so if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation, this campground is definitely for you.
When you’re not at your site or on the beach, you can always explore the restaurants and other fun activities in Sarasota county. So if you’re not one to lay on the beach ALL day, there are plenty of options for you as well.
Sun-N-Fun Resort and Campground
7125 Fruitville Road, Sarasota FL | (941) 371-2505
Sun-N-Fun Resort and Campground offer 150 activities during season (which runs November through April). If you were looking for a fun place to visit, this is it! If the Olympic-size outdoor heated pool with floating obstacle courses and power boats is not enough, check out the 9-hole pitch and putt. Each amenity they provide is designed for you to relax and have fun.
Spend the day doing woodworking, jewelry making, painting, or other fun activities they provide. There’s all sorts of fun things to do, and the greatest part is for you to be able to wind down at your campsite every night. It sounds like a great vacation!
Oscar Scherer State Park
1843 S. Tamiami Trail in Osprey | (800) 326-3521
Oscar Scherer State Park is another great place to adventure in during these spring months coming up. The park provides rentals for canoeing and bicycling, and if you’re interested in other activities, they also allow activities such as fishing, swimming, picnicking, and hiking. Another unique amenity the park provides is access to Legacy Trail; which is a paved trail that you are allowed to bike, walk, jog, or even rollerblade on during the open hours!
You’re family will never be bored in this gorgeous state park. Come back to your site at the end of the day and enjoy the water and electric, picnic tables and grills. Grab a hot shower in one of their nice bathrooms, and settle down to play a game of cards in your RV with your family.
Happy Traveling, Campers!
